25 June 2024 - First Aid on Farms course East Waikato / Hauraki Plains
Developed with the Dairy Women’s Network, our 4-hour First Aid on Farms course is based on a First Aid Needs Assessment for New Zealand dairy farms to meet WorkSafe compliance requirements. It focusses on scenario work, covering the most likely first aid emergencies encountered on dairy and other farms. The course covers:
- Practical first aid skills (stopping severe bleeding, applying a tourniquet, managing burns, managing soft tissue injuries, stabilising limbs and fractures, moving patient, getting help)
- CPR, shock, and bleeding
- First aid equipment needs
- Scenario work (quad bike rollover, crushing by animal)
- Special considerations for dairy farms (working in isolation, difficulties accessing emergency services, remoteness)
The key features of this course are:
- 4-hour course, delivered face-to-face
- No homework, no written assessment
- Based in a First Aid Needs Assessment conducted with the Dairy Women’s Network to meet WorkSafe compliance requirements
- Focus on practical skills and relevant scenarios
- Participants receive our Quick Reference Guide that provides practical information for dealing with first aid emergencies
